One of my 15-year-old 1:1 boys recently shared his genius morning strategy with me. And honestly… it’s brilliant.

ADHD kids have a hard time waking up on time in the morning. Thanks, delayed circadian rhythm (!).

He came up with this strategy himself and was a game changer for him.

He showed me his phone and I saw 6 alarms. All spaced out 3 minutes. That’s a well known technique for ADHDers … but here comes the twist:

He sets the first alarm half an hour before he has to get up.

Every alarm has another music which tells him how far away he is from having to actually wake up.

The first song is a slow, spa-like track … and with every alarm the music gets a little more lively. I laughed and asked if he ended with heavy metal… yep! Everyone to their own!

Maybe give it a try with your child. No matter the age!
